Ah, the Republican Family Values Tour Continues

And its latest contestant is the former Miss California, Carrie Prejean – whose remarks on gay marriage made her a 9-day wonder, and managed the minor miracle of making me sympathize with Perez Hilton and agree with Donald Trump, has ended her lawsuit against the Miss America pageant without getting a thin dime. Why? Because of the standard celebrity screwup, a sex tape. Really, the best quote:

As the pageant lawyers played a DVD for Prejean featuring a naked woman in a porno film, she reportedly said, “That’s disgusting.”

But when the camera moved along that naked body to show her face, the words stopped. Fifteen seconds later, the lawsuit was dropped

Err – Carrie, honey? You’ve had the boob job for a while now, you really should be able to recognize them.

So, let’s see – Carrie Prejean, John Ensign, Mark Sanford, Larry Craig, David Vitter, Mark Foley – never mind Kevvyd’s idea of keeping kids away from Priests, shouldn’t we be assuming now that all Right-Wingers are perverts and warn the children accordingly?

So, if God was speaking to her when she was answering questions during the pageant what was he saying to her during that little cinematic gem do you suppose? Could it have been “Don’t worry Carrie. Just get your rack redone and noone will ever make the connection” perhaps. Fault me for taking pleasure in another’s misfortune if you wish but it is nice to see someone that sanctimonious torn of the the high horse that they crawled up onto.

I don’t fault you at all, Doug – I’d have a tiny bit of sympathy (not a lot, but still) if this was a case of her being undone by something out of her control, but in this case *she’s* the one who put herself in front of the camera, and she’s the one who put herself into the spotlight knowing this kind of ticking timebomb was out there.

There must be a way to make schadenfreude into a sport of some kind. I’m currently just feverish enough to figure it out, I think…

If there is, I’m betting on the bloggers here to take home the Gold for Canada..

Further to report, TMZ says that Carrie’s mom was in the room when the tape was played – I’d feel sorry for her, but since much of this debacle can probably be traced to Carrie more than likely being a narcissist, I’m thinking her mother’s influence had more than a little to do with her developing that charming personality trait…
