I don’t know if others have been having problems with submitting comments on the “new” blogger, but I think the fine people at Google are using a different definition of that word than I’m accustomed to. I can’t count the number of times I’ve had to retype in that goddamn security word only to find that I have to retype my password, or vice versa. “New” now apparently means “(1) aggravating and frequently vexing; (2) an absolute pain in the ass; (3) no longer worth my time.”
Over the next few days I’m planning on moving this blog somewhere else and kissing blogger goodbye. Anyone have any good ideas? WordPress? Typepad?
If anyone can provide a compelling reason to not move the ‘kog, I’m willing to entertain those arguments, too.

It worked mostly. For whatever reason, lots of the comments did not sneak through. However, each time I rerun the import a few more make it. I don’t know if I’m going to keep cranking away on it forever to update, but I might try a few more times to see what happens.

Glad you moved. Since Feb 27 every Blogger blog I visit that has moved to the “new” Blogger, takes up to three minutes to load. If its Comments don’t use Haloscan, they time out without loading. (Haloscan comments work fine.)
Funnily enough, at Blogger.com there is no place for a simple reader, one sans blogger ID, to complain or even ask a question. At the parent company Google it appears to be similar — there’s no Complaints Department reachable via email.

So glad you said that about Blogger. I got so p***ed at the whole thing I too have moved over wordpress. Still v. Beta as I run my fortysomething-addled brain through the magic roundabouts of ftp sites, plug ins, importation features, but alas there’s something about having a blog of one’s own.

btw, you can block-and-copy blogger posts with comments and simply paste them into wordpress. I’ve picked up 15-20 Blogger posts at a time (including pix) and dropped them into 1 wp post with blogger comments hyperlinked… Works great.
