It seems that here on the ‘kog lately we’ve been taking the piss out of Christians fairly frequently. I don’t want to leave anyone with the impression that I am anti-Christian, because it would wrong. I am against all religion and superstition equally, let that be clear; no Mohammed, Christ, Thor, or Elvis.
To further clear the air, I take note of, and a cheap pot-shot at, the new Mohammed image controversy. Apparently, some Islamic dunderheads have started a petition to get Wikipedia to remove the image of Mohammed from its website.
Okay, okay, everyone is free to stroke their own fetishes and superstitions as they see fit, but they have no right to expect others to follow suit. So it’s against Islamic law to make an image of Mohammed – fine. If my reading is right, the reason for the law is to prevent idol worship – which is perfectly fine for Muslims. However, I have a sneaking feeling the employees and contributors to a website dedicated to the free dissemination of information like Wikipedia are unlikely (to say the least) to be Muslim, so the risk should be slight at best. I might be going out on a limb here, correct me if I’m wrong.
Anyway, If someone creates an image of Mohammed, well, they’re already bound for hell, right? Let ’em to it, I’d say. Or at least I would if I was a Muslim. More virgins for me.
By the way, here are some more pictures.
