What’s In A Name?

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has been holding a contest to name the international space station.

Second place: Serenity.

First place, with 230,539 votes, over 40,000 more than the second place entry:

Congratulations, it’s a space station.

This just made my day.

  1. Actually, as a Firefly fan, I’m rather disappointed. Plus, I’d hold off on the celebration, the fine print on the contest states that NASA is not legally bound to follow the results of the contest…

  2. That’s what I would have voted for too – I think the caveat Dan mentioned will come into play. Plus, I doubt Colbert would actually follow through.

  3. My hope is that Colbert will declare victory, and then graciously step aside in favour of ‘Serenity’ – perhaps on a night that Joss Whedon is guest-starring; then Joss can plug ‘Dollhouse’ as well…
